Are you ready to fall in love with books again? Do you want to explore enriching ideas even if you don’t have time to read the whole book?
This Newsletter is for You
Book lover, you’re in the right place.
Dreamers, adventurers, deep conversationalists, and wisdom seekers: this space was designed just for you. I can’t wait to dive in as we explore books, authors, and ideas together. This newsletter is a book lovers oasis.
You’re about to discover one of the best resources for book lovers.
Did you know that nearly half of all Americans can’t finish even one book a year? It’s true! I recognize it’s an anomaly that I read nearly 100 books every year—and it’s simply not sustainable for most people to do that.
That’s why I created this newsletter. I want to share the ideas and perspectives books can provide without the pressure to read the entire thing.
If you feel inspired to read more, great! But, even without picking up the actual book, my newsletter subscribers will get the best books have to offer: exposure to intriguing stories and ideas.
Here’s the thing: reading has a significant impact on your emotional and physical well-being.
In fact, the journal Social Science and Medicine did a study that showed book readers may increase their lifespan by 20%!
Now, there are many other benefits to reading like expanding our worldview, increasing compassion, reducing our cognitive decline, tackling stress, enhancing critical thinking, improving social skills, supporting better sleep, fostering greater human connection, and more.
So how can you tap into these benefits if you simply don’t have the time or even the focus ability to finish books?
That’s where my newsletter comes in.
“Reading is at once a lonely and an intensely sociable act.”
Edmund White, The Unpunished Vice, p. 1
My newsletter bridges the gap between the writers’ words and the readers’ thoughts. This stimulates an intimate and more meaningful connection to books and ideas.
You see, this newsletter is for the curious soul, the one yearning for more connection and inspiration.
This newsletter is for you if you…
feel overloaded and tired
want a new book friend to geek out with
crave new ideas and literary inspiration
may or may not have time to read full books
want a healthy escape from the daily grind of life
are also interested in psychology, sociology, relationships, trauma and healing, feminism, cultural influences, and more.
are ready for a little movement, a little extra, a little pause, a little personality, a little spark!
Here’s a sampling of some of the thoughts my newsletter may inspire:
I had no idea some caterpillars have 238 muscles in their heads?!
Maybe this person’s opinions of me have kept me stuck for way too long…
Hey! Maybe I do like some poetry!
I’m going to try communicating this way with my partner/at work!

I didn’t know creative nonfiction was a thing! It’s kind of fun!
What unrealistic expectations do I have of myself?
This is FUNNY!

I never would have considered that or put it that way…
The drama triangle has an opposite?! Love that.
All about ONE author–this list will be fun to explore!
Maybe I’ll start a book club like that one…one chapter a month sounds doable!
I’m so glad I can fit this bright little tidbit into my busy day today!
Have I been sold the lie that “submissiveness” is “empowering” for women?
This is exactly the kind of book I want to read right now…hey, it’s available for free from my library!
Maybe I’ll try that recipe for dinner...
This is exactly what I’m struggling with right now…exactly what I need to hear…

She’s right! My experience as a reader does matter!
That would be a great book to read to my kids/or read with my kid.
plus so much more!
With my newsletter, you can experience 17 books every year!
Every 3 weeks, I publish a new issue that focuses on one book. Here’s the thing though - this is not just a summary or cliff notes version of the book. There are other resources for that kind of consumption. Instead, my newsletter invites you to go deeper.
While I will include an overview of what the author says, I will also share my story of reading the story: my experience reading the book, what insights stay with me and influence my life, and how it connects to other books or ideas I’ve come across.
I read a wide variety of genres, and I have a special love for nonfiction. My areas of interest include psychology, sociology, relationships, trauma and healing, feminism, cultural influences, and much, much more! These are themes I love to discuss in the newsletter.
To read my newsletter is to journey deeper into the reader’s experience.
The newsletter is available in audio!
Since nearly 20% of readers prefer to consume content in audio format, I wanted to make sure you can do the same! That’s why my newsletter is not just available to read, but you can listen to it too!
I personally record the audio version in my own voice so you don’t have to worry about a weird AI rendering. It’s authentic, it’s personal, and I know you will love it.
Your Soul Needs This
There is more to our lives than the routine, the grind, the expected–but, it often doesn’t feel that way. We are each dynamic and interesting and unique! We deserve to follow our curiosity and explore the world…in fact, our souls NEED it.
But, there’s no money or time.
There’s no mental space!
Or, we don’t know where to go, or how to get there, or who to travel with…
And, this is where I can help.
But, I’m not a travel guide, I’m a book guide.
(And, reading-travel can be practically free!)
I’m here to offer you options for traveling the literary world–exploring all the books, authors, genres, styles, subjects, ideas–and (the best part) inspiration and introspection.
I know you need simplicity, so that’s exactly what this is.
Don’t have time to read an entire book? No problem! My newsletter will give you exposure to ideas or paths to explore later. You don’t have to read the book I review to get it’s value.

Don’t have the energy to explore? No problem! My rating system will help break it down, so you know what you’re getting into when you’re ready for it.

My Book Rating System
To help connect readers to the books I review, you will see a “rating section” at the beginning of each newsletter issue. I rate each book on 3 things: 1) personal preference, 2) readability, and 3) subject weight. I also include trigger warnings if a particular topic is addressed in the book that might be challenging.
Personal Rating:
My personal preference (ranging from “My All-Time Favorite” to just plain “Awful”).
Accessibility:
How mentally challenging the writing is (easy and engaging or difficult and dry?).
Subject Weight:
How emotionally challenging it is (war-time trauma or thoughtful walk through the woods?).
